Spanish Wine - more than just Rioja

It’s been a busy few weeks for the team… relaunching our brand name, and also signing up lots of exciting new wines to the site. I’ve spent the last few weeks, tasting my way through hundreds of French and Spanish wines ( yes it’s a tough job but someone has to do it), and we can now welcome a fantastic selection of Chablis, red and white Burgundy, Beaujolais, and Rhone wines from Louis Latour, Louis Jadot and Vidal Fleury.

Spain was my next target… we know and love Rioja, but Spanish wines have far more to offer than this. Since my first wine buying trip to Spain, far too many years ago, I have loved the diversity and uniqueness of Spanish wines, from the crisp, appley intensity of Albarinho from Galicia in the far north west of Spain, to the elegance of the great wines of Ribera del Duero, through to the youthful, modern, varietal style that many wineries are now producing. So we’ve teamed up with top Spanish producer Codorniu, famous for their Cavas, to bring you a selection of Spanish wines from all over the country, including some of my favourites, the vibrant Legaris Verdejo from northern Rueda (try this if you like zingy Sauvignon blanc styles), and the rich, strawberry and plum scented Raimat Abadia Tempranillo.

Next step is Italy and watch out for a whole new range of fantastic Italian wines within the next few weeks, from suave and elegant Gavi in the north, to the rich spiciness of some great Sicilian wines.
